It's a Busy Week!

I hope you are all having a wonderful evening.  Today, we continued our comparison of Earth and Mars in preparation for our unit and projects.  It might be fun to quiz your 6th grader about some of the things the two planets have in common as well some major differences.  Today was our library time, followed by SSR in the classroom.  While the students were reading, I quickly checked our planner behavior pages--96% of the pages were signed!  Thank you so much for your diligence in checking your students' planner.  :)

Once again, we had 100% for our memory work this past week.  That's five weeks running.  The kiddos are looking forward to their extra recess tomorrow.

As you are probably aware, we have been spending time learning to use simple, compound and complex sentences.  Because this section of grammar has given heartburn to several students, we are reviewing the unit again this week.  Today we had a silly activity for creating complex sentences, and I'm hoping the 6th graders' comfort levels are improving.  Sentence variety is a key skill in effective writing.

Tomorrow Pastor Robert from Uganda will be speaking at chapel.  Later in the morning, the 6th and 7th grade classes will have an opportunity to meet with him and learn more about his work.  If your schedule permits, why not join us for chapel at 8:35 AM?  Also, be sure to mark your calendars for early release (11:15 AM) this Friday, the spaghetti feed on next Friday (9/12), followed by the Fall Fest on Saturday (9/13).
