I had a delightful day with your 6th graders today. We are still working on class-building and learning procedures so that our year will go smoothly. For one of our group projects, we did a survival scenario in which we had crash landed in the Sonoran Desert and needed to figure out which supplies would be the most helpful to keep us alive. In addition, we began reading the biography of Nate Saint, a missionary to the Waorani people in Ecuador. Tomorrow we will brainstorm ways to Show Respect, Solve Problems and Make Good Decisions (our classroom rules).
