Wednesday's News

Today was chapel, followed by SOAR awards and Honor Roll/Honorable Mention recognition.  We have some pretty awesome students in our school (and in 6th grade in particular)!  We continued to work on our Part 6 assignment for Treasure Island, including spending time in the Tech Lab to finish up our Epilogues.  I have encouraged the students to go over their stories, focusing on capitalization, punctuation, spelling, word choices, and paragraphing.  The final draft is due on Friday, and we will have one more day of worktime tomorrow.

Even though the 6th graders' next novel is self-selected, the students need to bring their books to school each day.  I will be giving them some silent reading time over the next couple of weeks to help them complete their assignment in time to plan and present a response project.  I'm looking forward to hearing about the books the kids have chosen.

In addition, we are exploring ideas for our science investigations which will be planned, carried out, and shared with classmates.  While the science projects won't be due until late February, it's important for the students to begin thinking about what type of an investigation they would like to plan.  More to follow.  :)
