I hope you all had a fun weekend. Today, after reading in our self-selected novels, we watched a portion of Treasure Island on VHS. The version we viewed sticks much more closely to the book than many of the other options. Still, it is fun to see where the film departs from the story or adds additional information.
Some of the 6th graders have finished their novels and are anxious to start on their response projects. Next week I'll be giving a two literature periods for project work. Of course, they are also welcome to work on their projects during free work time. However, it's really important for the students to have a book to read during class, even if it is not the novel they read for the assignment. :)
Because we watched part of the Treasure Island video today, PE has been rescheduled for tomorrow, so the kiddos will need to make sure they have their PE clothes and shoes here.
