We had a great day in 6th grade! After starting our day with chapel, we worked on a couple of songs for the Christmas program on December 19. The middle school students are learning to sing harmony on some of the songs--what a treat. :) Be sure to mark your calendars--we'll have performances at 2:00 PM and at 7:00 PM.
Did you know that Bethlehem is having special advent services on Wednesday nights? If your schedule allows, why not come and join us as we prepare our hearts for celebrating Christmas?
In our classroom we have lots going on over the next couple of weeks. As you already know, the students are reading a self-selected novel/biography and preparing a response project to share with the class. Also, the 6th graders will have a couple of Christmas craft activities, including constructing and decorating a graham cracker house. The kids will be bringing in candies to finish off their creations, while I will provide each 6th grader with a package of graham crackers and some royal icing. After the building and decorating is finished, the students will write original stories with their "masterpiece" as the setting.
Last but not least, we decided we'd like to have a class Christmas party on the 20th (the day after the Christmas program). More will follow as we firm up our plans. :) By the way, we love having parents join us when we party. :)
