Thursday's Happenings

It was a busy day!  In Literature we spent time creating high quality answers to literature questions.  While we will have some short answer questions occasionally, we will focus on writing essay style answers on a regular basis.  My criteria for the students is to restate the question in the answer, to use complete sentences and good conventions, and to include specific details from the story which support their statements.  While this style of writing may take a bit of practice in the beginning, it will be beneficial as the 6th graders move through middle school and into high school.

Tomorrow morning B-F Transit will pick us up at BLS at 9:00 AM and take us to the KeHS track to time our fall miles.  Then, we will climb back aboard the bus at about 10:45 AM to return to school.  I just love our transit service!  The 6th graders need to have their PE clothes (including running shoes), a sweatshirt and a water bottle.  Of course, a good night's sleep and healty breakfast couldn't hurt either.  :)  Next week we will focus on our curls, push-ups, shuttle runs and the V-Sit & Reach.  These tests will form a baseline, as well as help students know what areas need special emphasis both at school and at home.  If your child has an inhaler at school, we'll remind him/her to bring it along with us.

Good luck to our soccer and volleyball players!
