My apologies for not updating the blog yesterday. I was tied up in meetings until late and, then, had to rush out of here for an appointment. Whew!
Today was a productive day in 6th grade. In literature, we focused on the various points of view writers use and then read an entertaining short story written in first person. Afterwards, the students rewrote an event from the story, seeing it through the eyes of a different character. This wrapped up our literary review and next week we will hop into our first whole class novel. Later, in science, we went on the NASA website together and viewed images of our sun. Sunset from Mars, as photographed by Rover, was definitely interesting. Understandably, we were all rather in awe of the size of the sun as compared to Earth.
I have the Gradelink user names and passwords ready to send home with the students tomorrow. Be sure to use the passwords exactly as typed--and, they are case sensitive. If the passwords are entered incorrectly five times in a row, the system will lock you out and the school will need to reset it for you. :)
Tomorrow morning we will have a special assembly to kick off our Operation Christmas Child project. Then, at the end of the day, we will close with our Quick Start Fall Fest assembly. As always, you are welcome to join us. Have a fun evening!
