Today our soccer team has its first game against Kingspoint, and the volleyball team has a scrimmage. Best wishes and cheers to both of our teams. :) Tomorrow will be our reading MAP test--then we'll be finished for the fall.
This morning we focused on vivid word choices and "showing, not telling" in our 4-Square writing. During our in-class exploration, several groups which had us chuckling at their "like what?" responses. After lunch recess, the 6th graders compared sin to big beach balls floating on the water. It's pretty difficult to drown a beach ball! In spite of our best efforts, sin can keep popping up to the surface in our lives. Thursday, we'll explore God's judgment against sin in the Great Flood and the good news of His mercy to sinners through Jesus Christ's atonement.
As part of our astronomy unit, we are studying various types of telescopes--optical, infrared, X-ray, radio, Gamma ray, etc. After reading about optical telescopes in our textbook, we went online and viewed some images from the Spitzer Space Telescope, an infrared instrument. I've included some links to various NASA/Cal-Tech/JPL web pages in our email for you and your student to enjoy.
One last note, the Boosters' Family Night planned for this Friday has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for another time.
